Welcome to Pieces of the Puzzle

An Adult Neurodivergent Growth and Skills Group

Neurodivergence is one piece of a person’s identity, but it may influence how you experience communication, emotions, relationships, work, sensory environments, and daily responsibilities. You are not a problem that needs to be fixed. Pieces of the Puzzle offers a space to better understand your patterns, identify your needs, and build tools that support the way your mind and nervous system work. Each participant brings different strengths, experiences, challenges, identities, and support needs. This group encourages participants to honor those differences instead of comparing themselves to one narrow idea of what neurodivergence should look like.

Topics We May Explore

  • Understanding neurodivergent identity
  • Masking, unmasking, and authenticity
  • Neurodivergent and autistic burnout

The Personal Jar and Burnout Cycle

Every person has a limited amount of emotional, mental, physical, and sensory energy—a personal 'jar'. Neurodivergent adults may use a significant portion of that capacity on masking, social expectations, sensory processing, and daily tasks. When too much energy is poured into responsibilities without replenishing personal needs, you may experience increased overwhelm, reduced functioning, shutdown, or burnout.

We will practice identifying:
  • What fills your personal jar
  • What drains your capacity
  • How close you are to reaching your limit
  • Early warning signs of burnout
  • Which needs tend to be overlooked
  • How to create balance before reaching a crisis point
